I recently designed temporary tattoos for NBR NZ Opera's production of Cav & Pag.
Three of the main characters: Nedda, Tonio and Beppe, are members of a traveling carnival and are heavily tattooed with quite primitive 'carni' type tattoos. Each characters tattoos reflect his or her roles in the performance.
I made them all very bold and graphic so they were easily readable from a distance, and seeing them on stage on the opening night was really exciting. It was the first time I'd seen an opera and I was really impressed. It's an incredible production from the actors right through to the set design and the costume department.
